VFR Day Required Equipment

Equipment required for day VFR flight:

• Airspeed indicator
• Tachometer for each engine
• Oil pressure gauge for each engine using a pressure system
• Manifold pressure gauge for each altitude engine
• Altimeter
• Temperature gauge for each liquid-cooled engine
• Oil temperature gauge for each air-cooled engine
• Fuel gauge for each tank
• Landing gear position indicator (if retractable)
• Anticollision lights (small civil airplanes certificated after 11 March 1996)
• Magnetic direction indicator
• ELT (if required by § 91.207)
• Safety belts / shoulder harnesses

Also required by the rule but not captured in the mnemonic: flotation gear and a signalling device for flights for hire beyond gliding distance from shore. Always read the rule itself before a checkride.
