91.155 Basic VFR Minimums

Basic VFR weather minimums vary by airspace and altitude. The most-tested cases:

• Class B: 3 SM visibility, clear of clouds
• Class C, D and E below 10,000 ft MSL: 3 SM, and 500 ft below / 1,000 ft above / 2,000 ft horizontal from clouds
• Class E at or above 10,000 ft MSL: 5 SM, and 1,000 ft below / 1,000 ft above / 1 SM horizontal
• Class G varies with altitude and day/night — read the table in the rule

Class A is not included: VFR is not permitted there. Always confirm against the current rule text.
